The Musée d'art et d'histoire is joining forces with the Château de Nyon to host, on their respective sites, the new edition of the national ceramics exhibition organized by swissceramics – Association Céramique Suisse.
The Melting Pot exhibition presents the result of a competition bringing together an international jury on the theme of “Melting Pot – from alchemical to cultural crucible”.
Melting Pot in English designates both a space, in which people of varied origins mingle, and a container in which the alchemist or the ceramist will mix materials of various kinds
The project takes up the general theme of the 50th Congress of the International Academy of Ceramics, official partner of Unesco, which will be held in Geneva from September 11 to 16, 2022. This large-scale event will bring in its wake a whole series of events in French-speaking Switzerland around ceramics, of which the joint exhibition in Neuchâtel and Nyon will be an important part.
The exhibition presented at the Museum of Art and History will reveal the works of 13 artists who each give a very personal interpretation of the theme. A richly illustrated publication will be produced on this occasion.
